Convert Analog Video to Digital Video, or Digital Video to Analog: Sony introduces a new media converter that will allow you to convert analog recordings, such as 8mm or VHS to a digital video signal that is output to i.LINK interface. The DVMC-DA1 features a hardware based codec system (compression/decompression device) for optimum performance when converting analog video to digital, or vice versa.
Transfer and Store Analog Video into the Digital Domain: By using Sony's new DVMC-DA1, any analog video or audio source can be stored as digital data in a computer or on Digital Video Cassette. The DVMC-DA1 allows analog sources such as 8mm, Hi8™ video or VHS tapes to be converted into a digital signal for easy strorage and manipulation. Using the Media Converter i.LINK interface, send the converted digital signal to a PC using a still image capture device such as Sony's DVBK-2000, the new Sony VAIO® Digital Studio Series Desktop Computers, or a Sony Digital Handycam® camcorder. Once converted to digital, video editing, still image capture, and archiving will have the high quality and ease of use that comes with all digital applications.
Makes any TV i.LINK Compatible: By connecting the media converter to your television's S-Video or composite inputs, you can playback digital video with one single supplied i.LINK cable (i.e. VMC-IL4415, VMC-IL4435). The DVMC-DA1 lets you make any television with A/V inputs become DV compatible.
Selectable Switch for Analog or Digital: Two buttons on top of the media converter allow you to easily select between analog in or digital in, depending on whether you are using an analog or digital video source.
Digital Audio Transfer: Easily convert analog audio signal to digital audio 12 or 16 bit (PCM). Select from 12 or 16 bit audio mode on the DVMC-DA1 media converter box by pushing the "Analog In" key for 2 seconds until green colored light (12 bit mode) or red colored light (16 bit mode) appears.
