Aiwa Mini/Midi
System's Features

Multi-Amplifier System
Instead of using one amplifier for stereo reproduction, the AIWA
Multi-Amplifier System employs a second amplifier. While one amplifier reproduces the
mid-to-high frequencies (above 200Hz), the other is dedicated to bass frequencies (below
200Hz). This replaces passive crossover networks in the speakers with active circuitry
that divides the frequency range before power amplification, a configuration that ensures
more accurate, cleaner sound. Moreover, because each amplifier handles only a specific,
limited range of frequencies, circuits can be independently optimized for the best bass
and best mid-to-high frequency reproduction. There is no interference between the
frequency ranges, so the sound remains clean and undistorted, even at higher listening
levels.

Built-In Subwoofer System
The speaker cabinets that come with AIWA Multi-Amplifier Systems (described above) feature
an advanced multi-cavity design that enhances the concept of frequency range separation.
Because the mid/high-frequency drivers are enclosed in their own cavity within the speaker
cabinet, there is no acoustic interference from the bass driver. The midrange and highs
thus remain clear and well-defined. The bass driver is mounted inside the cabinet, firing
into a special tuned cavity that extends the low-frequency response. Their powerful
deep-bass performance eliminates the need for a separate subwoofer. And with left and
right built-in subwoofers, you can enjoy true stereo performance down to the lowest
frequencies - something you can't get with a single monaural subwoofer.
Dolby Pro Logic
All AIWA Mini Theater
systems include Dolby Pro Logic decoding circuitry that retrieves left, right, center, and
rear channel information from encoded stereo sources. The signals are separately amplified
and sent to the speakers in your surround sound system. AIWA systems incorporate the most
advanced steering logic technology to improve channel separation and directional accuracy.
The result is greater home theater realism and drama with any Dolby surround-encoded
source, including movies on videocassettes and many TV, cable, and satellite broadcasts.
Dolby Digital
"Ready"
Dolby Digital surrounds you with six discrete channels of the
highest-quality audio. Today, you can enjoy this remarkable new multichannel audio
technology with DVD (Digital Versatile Disc) movie and music releases. Tomorrow, Dolby
Digital will be an integral part of digital TV, cable, and satellite broadcasts. AIWA
Dolby Digital "Ready" Mini Theater systems are equipped with six analog input
jacks to accommodate the "5.1-channel" outputs of a Dolby Digital decoder or a
DVD player with built-in decoder. With this feature, you're ready for the next generation
in surround sound entertainment.
Dolby Digital
AIWA's top-of-the-line Mini
Theater system comes equipped with a built-in Dolby Digital decoder and
can accommodate source components, such as DVD players, that output a Dolby Digital data
stream. Internally, your AIWA system decodes the audio signal into six discrete channels
that are separately amplified and reproduced through front, center and rear speakers and a
subwoofer. This feature maximizes audio reproduction quality with a new DVD player and
makes your system ready for future Dolby Digital sources, such as digital TV, cable, and
satellite broadcast systems.
Jog Dial Control
AIWA's multifunction Jog Dial gives you fast easy control over the many
command functions on your audio system. Use this rotary dial to first select the function,
then use it again to make your desired setting. It's smooth, fast, simple - and a great
way to cut down on front panel clutter.
Preset/Custom Audio
Settings
AIWA DSP (Digital Signal Processing) circuitry delivers added listening
enjoyment. It "transports" you to different simulated acoustic environments with
preset settings, such as Disco, Live, Movie, and Hall. AIWA's Electronic Graphic Equalizer
lets you enhance sound reproduction with presets for different musical genres, such as
Rock, Pop, Jazz, and Classic. Many AIWA audio systems further give you the ability to
create your own customized settings. For example, with custom DSP you can adjust delay
time and reverberation to fine-tune the acoustic space. With custom equalization, you can
boost or cut specific frequencies to get just the sound balance you want with far more
precision than conventional tone controls. You can also store this setting in memory for
instant access.

BBE
The process of reproducing sound over
loudspeakers can result in subtle distortions that destroy the "liveness" of the
original performance. Used in professional sound applications, BBE circuitry dynamically
adjusts for frequency and phase distortions, bringing the reproduced sound into sharper
focus. AIWA audio systems with BBE circuitry can restore the nuance, presence, and
excitement of a live performance. Highs are naturally brilliant. Lows are rich and
well-defined. You'll hear more musical detail.
Magnetically
Shielded Speakers
Most AIWA audio systems have magnetically shielded speakers. (Mini Theater
systems have magnetically shielded front and center speakers.) This lets you place the
speakers right next to or on top of your TV without causing picture distortion.
Optical Digital
Output
An optical digital output is provided on virtually every AIWA audio
system. This feature enables you to connect the CD player to an external digital audio
recording device, such as an MD or DAT recorder, using fiber optic cable. Unlike
conventional copper wire, optical cables won't pick up hum and noise from external
sources. And because the signal transfer is purely digital, there is no loss of sound
quality as with conventional dubbing between analog components.

CD Changer
Many AIWA audio systems include advanced multi-CD changers that let you
keep more of your favorite music on tap and provide hours of uninterrupted playback.
AIWA's 5-disc changer features a unique tilted tray design that provides the convenience
and capacity of carousel-type changers in a fraction the space. (See below) AIWA's 3-disc
changer, also remarkably compact, lets you change the two non-playing CDs while the third
is playing. You can thereby keep the music flowing for hours without repetition or
interruption. Both changers provide smooth, easy disc access without the hassle of
removable magazines.
CD Blank Skip
If you like your music "wall to wall" with no waiting between
songs, you'll appreciate the CD Blank Skip feature. When you activate this feature, your
AIWA CD changer skips over the silent portions between tracks, providing truly continuous
music entertainment.
Power Economizing
Mode (ECO System)
To help eliminate unnecessary power consumption, many AIWA systems feature
a unique ECO mode. When engaged, front panel displays brighten only when you operate any
of the controls and return to a dimmed state after 10 seconds. In addition, if there is no
audio signal from the CD or tape player (or any external source) for 10 minutes, the
system powers down. If you use the built-in self-timer function for unattended recording,
the system will turn on at the programmed time with displays dimmed, button lamps off, and
volume turned all the way down. And when you turn off system power, there are no display
lights than remain on.
