The Harmony has a 2-way loudspeaker system with a powered subwoofer. You get dual 3" mid and high range drivers that are a new proprietary JBL design to give you the crisp and clear sound for which JBL's have long been famous.
There's a 4" long throw subwoofer on a separate, more powerful amplification circuit that makes the bass tones strong and vibrant, not attenuated and muddy.
The front mounted CD Player is easy to load, and offers local and remote control for track skip, track search, random play and repeat play. There are 16 presets on the AM/FM tuner: 8 AM / 8 FM. You can key them in from the front panel or the remote.
Auto scan will search for strong signals, and switching from stereo to mono will reduce the noise level on weak, distant signals. Not one, but two separate alarms can be set; makes it convenient if your significant other is not quite as ambitious as you are.
You can also program it to play a CD in the morning when you're burned out on the lame brain AM radio morning shows. The night before, the Harmony will lull you to sleep with music, then politely turn itself off. If the night before was a long one, hit the snooze button. Harmony will give you an extra five minutes before it again reminds you there's a world awaiting your presence.
There are three radio antennas supplied with your Harmony. An FM dipole pulls in distant stations, or use the convenient and hidden 75 ohm drop wire that works great for strong, local stations.
There's also the classic AM loop antenna; the same type supplied with the most expensive home entertainment receivers. Auxiliary high impedance inputs for left and right channel signals mean you can use the Harmony to improve, or move, the sound of your TV, VCR, CD or cassette deck. A 2.5mm center pole positive back panel power jack lets you pull the 110VAC, 60Hz wall cord and enjoy the Harmony on the road or anywhere in the world. If you do pull the power cord, or the power utility sputters, Harmony's internal batteries remember the time, the alarm settings and the radio station presets.
