The Canon Speedlite 540EZ is a high-performance clip-on flash unit designed for professional and advanced amateur users of EOS series cameras. It incorporates sophisticated features that permit everything from simple, automated flash shooting to advanced, flash-enhanced photographic techniques. In comparison to the earlier model 430EZ, the 540EZ offers a wealth of new features and improved functions, many of which were specifically requested by EOS camera users.

Specifications:

Type: Direct-coupling clip-on type A-TTL/TTL automatic flash with AF auxiliary light (compatible with 5 focusing points when used with EOS 1N), A-TTL pre-flash, auto zoom, and bounce functions.

Flash Coverage Angle:
- Auto Zoom: Zoom position is automatically set according to focal length data received for the lens when the shutter button is pressed halfway (SW-1 ON).

- Wide-angle diffusion panel: When the wide panel is manually pulled into place, the flash automatically zooms to the 28mm position to provide a coverage and angle equivalent to an 18mm lens.
Zoom Stop Positions: Seven Positions: 24mm, 28mm, 35mm, 50mm, 70mm, 80mm, and 105mm (During bounce flash photography when the flash unit is set for auto zoom, the zoom position is automatically set to 50mm).
