Specifications
Main Features:
2.1 Megapixel Capacity
Digital photography, like analog photography, is about
clarity. The S10's 1/2-inch CCD has over 2.1 million pixels, providing rich color,
high-resolution and large-image-size capacity. With the ability to provide full-color
images at up to 1,600 x 1,200 you can finally get the full-size photographs you want from
a digital camera with the Canon legacy of quality and photographic excellence.
USB Connection
Part of being digital is about communication. Specifically,
it's about the ability to communicate between your PowerShot camera and your computer. The
PowerShot S10 brings your communications into the digital universe with its cross-platform
USB connection. By connecting your S10 to your computer (PC or Macintosh) via the included
USB cable you can download your photographs at 20 times the rate of the older serial
connections. With today's high-capacity storage devices, a quicker download is essential,
and with the USB connection, you can now communicate at digital speed.
Storage
Digital photography provides the wonderful ability to
capture high-resolution large-size photographs, with stunning color and rich detail. The
only problem: where to put these photographs, which can have file sizes well over a
megabyte each. Floppies can't stand up to the task of holding even a few of these
high-quality pictures.
Enter PowerShot and the
CompactFlash card.
Each PowerShot camera comes with a CompactFlash card, like
a little digital hard drive, which can hold up to 8MB worth of images. That's more storage
space then a handful of floppies. And you can get CompactFlash cards in sizes from 2MB
cards all the way up to the IBM microdrive, at 340MB. It's like loading 45 rolls of 35mm
film all at once.
With PowerShot and the CompactFlash card you never need to worry about film or space
again. You know you can rely on Canon to deliver the rich high-quality photograph you
want, and you always have room to store it. PowerShot makes room for your photographs in
the digital present while making space for you in the digital future.
Canon Lenses
Today's digital cameras are technological marvels, with
abilities unthought of even a few years ago. However, ultimately digital cameras are just
that, cameras, and like all cameras they are only as good as their lenses. Canon has been
in the business of making great lenses since the 1940s. The camera's electronic
components, from the CCD to the CompactFlash card, all rely on the camera lens to deliver
a clear, sharp, high-quality image. With the all-glass aspherical Canon lenses in every
PowerShot camera, you get the image quality you need. Look at the world through your
mind's eye, but photograph it through a Canon lens.
Detail Features:
Are you digital yet?
You are because the PowerShot S10 brings you
high resolution, large storage capacity and the latest features you want at an affordable
price.
- Smallest in its class: Extremely compact
design that is only 4.1 inches long, 2.7 inches high and 1.3 inches wide (with lens
retracted). In addition, the PowerShot S10 is just 9.5 ounces excluding battery and
Compact Flash card.
- Simple Controls: Large, easy to use control
buttons placed just where you'd expect to find them. The Omni Selector centralized button
offers advanced functions logically arranged in one place.
- 2.1 Million Pixel Resolution: PowerShot has
what photographers crave: rich image density, and incredible image clarity. The PowerShot
S10's 1/2-inch 2.1 megapixel Charge-coupled device (CCD) sensor creates full-color and
B&W high-resolution images up to 1,600 x 1,200 pixels.
- USB High-Speed Interface: The USB
(Universal Serial Bus) allows the PowerShot S10 to communicate with your computer 20 times
faster than standard serial port connectors. You can connect directly to USB or use the
RS-232C serial port.
- CompactFlash: We don't use film, we use
something far better, the most powerful image-storage media-compatible Type I and II
CompactFlash memory cards. The PowerShot S10 also supports IBM's 340 MB microdrive.
Because the CompactFlash memory cards are reusable and can hold so many images, you need
never worry about film or developing costs.
- Lens: The Canon name is synonymous with
high-quality optics. Our TTL-auto focus lens assures that a clear, sharp image is
transferred to the CCD. Canon's high-resolution, minimal low-distortion f/2.8 (wide
angle)-4.0 (telephoto) all-glass aspherical optical 2x zoom lens has a focal length of 35
to 70mm (in terms of 35mm film). It opens the door to the future of Canon digital imaging,
yet it's the smallest zoom lens in the world.
- Power Sources: The PowerShot S10 is powered
by a lightweight 2CR5 lithium (or NB-5H rechargeable NiMH) battery and an internal CR2016
lithium battery that insure date/time stamp backup. You have all the power you need to be
digital.
- Software: With the PowerShot S10, taking
great pictures is only the beginning. Just point and click to capture your images, and
then utilize the easy to use PowerShot Solutions Software CD-ROM to enhance the images to
your liking. This comprehensive software package is fully compatible with PC and Macintosh
computers. It includes: Adobe PhotoDeluxe and PhotoStitch for both Mac OS and Windows. And
the ZoomBrowser EX for windows or the PowerShot Browser for the Mac.
- The PowerShot S10 digital camera gives more. More in the way
of digital technology, digital imaging and value for your money. The PowerShot S10's easy
to use features and powerful imaging quality makes it one of Canon's greatest digital
achievements.
