The DSC-F505V Cyber-Shot combines a 3.34 mega-pixel CCD (effective 2.62 mega-pixel resolution) with new interpolation technology to achieve 3.7 mega-pixel resolution--the highest of any Sony digital camera. Advanced features include powerful Carl Zeiss 5x optical zoom, 130° rotating lens for difficult-to-get shots, extensive manual controls, high quality MPEG1 movie mode, Memory Stick storage, 12-bit A/D conversion for wider dynamic range, TIFF mode for maximum color fidelity, and in-camera image resizing options -- allowing precise control over the outcome of your pictures.

High Quality:

• 3.34 mega pixel CCD captures high resolution interpolated still images up to 2240 x 1680 pixels. Newly-developed Super Resolution Converter (SRC) allows the DSC-F505V to provide larger sized images, via interpolation, with greater accuracy than ever. Because SRC takes original data directly from the CCD before JPEG compression, it performs interpolation with up to 16 times more actual picture data than conventional methods. Images are of remarkable clarity without many of the drawbacks commonly associated with interpolation.
• 12-bit A-D (analog-to-digital) conversion delivers four times the intensity levels as conventional 10-bit conversion. This results is greater dynamic range as well as greater detail in bright highlights and dark shadows.
• Razor-sharp Carl Zeiss Vario Sonnar 5X (equivalent to 38-190mm on a 35mm camera) optical zoom uses a unique lens coating that reduces glare and flaring, while providing improvement in detail and contrast. 10X precision digital zoom with less blocking and distortion than most other types of digital zooms. A manual focus ring is also provided, offering a level of control not usually found in digital cameras. An expanded focus indicator magnifies the LCD display for easy focusing by eye.
• Unique rotating lens design lets you shoot in a crowd or at waist level for careful composition

High Performance:

• High-speed Auto Focus with auto macro capability down to 1" of the subject.
• 7-mode program auto exposure plus Aperture priority (7-steps) and Shutter priority (19-steps) modes; 4-mode auto white balance (preset Auto, Indoor, Outdoor, or Hold).
• Intelligent flash with red-eye reduction provides the perfect amount of flash for optimum brightness and color accuracy in any lighting conditions. An external flash terminal is also provided, allowing use with the external HVL-F1000 accessory flash. The HVL-F1000 adds range (over 30’) and flexibility (bounce and multi-source) to the flash system.
• MPEG Movie Mode allows you to capture video and audio onto Memory Stick for input onto your computer. Use the Video Mail mode to record video and audio at 160 x 112 resolution for fast and easy downloads over the internet, or use the Presentation mode (320 x 240) when higher quality is required. The DSC-F505V also features MPEG HQ Mode--full frame playback with an increased frame rate of 16 frames per second for smoother movement.
• Built-in microphone and Voice Memo Mode allows you to add narration to a still image--ideal for presentations
• Uses state-of-the-art Memory Sticks for storage. Smaller than a stick of gum, Memory Stick has the ability to interface with and between an endless array of audio/video and computer products. With Memory Stick you can even transfer information, such as data, text, images and graphics without ever using a PC, using products such as the Sony Cyberframe PHD-A55 digital photo frame or the DPP-MS300 Memory Stick Printer.

• 2-inch (123,000 pixel) hybrid LCD monitor consists of a transmissive LCD combined with a reflective LCD. By turning the backlight off, the LCD will capture more ambient light allowing you to reduce power consumption by 20%. This will save on battery power, and help prevent LCD "wash-out" even in difficult lighting conditions.
• Create a slide show of your favorite images on Memory Stick storage media and use the video out to playback automatically on your television.
• Auto orientation position sensor allows the camera to sense whether each shot is vertical (portrait) or horizontal (landscape). Each shot is then automatically displayed in the correct orientation on the LCD monitor or on your PC monitor.
• Audio/video output (PAL/NTSC switchable) for easy viewing of images and MPEG movies on any television with standard video inputs. PAL capability allows viewing even when you are overseas.
• Playback crop/trim and resize functions lets you manipulate the picture inside your camera. Zoom and trim allows you to crop and blow up images without external software programs. Resize lets you save an image as a smaller file, permitting easier e-mailing or more room for storage.
• Selectable JPEG, TIFF, and Text modes (special mode for high-contrast text and graphics)
• Supplied NP-FS11 InfoLithium battery provides up to 1100 consecutive shots, while the AccuPower system lets you know how much time is left in minutes.
