The DSC-S30 offers extremely small size with excellent picture quality, making it the ideal digital camera for computer users and travelers on the go. The DSC-30 incorporates a 1.3 mega pixel Super HAD CCD (1.6 million interpolated), 12-bit A-D conversion and 3x zoom lens to capture superbly detailed images, and then stores them on Sony's Memory Stick--the latest and greatest technology in digital data storage.

1.3 mega pixel Super HAD CCD uses interpolation to capture high resolution still images up to 1472 x 1104 (1.6 million pixel equivalent). Super HAD technology reduces noise in the imager to improve signal-to-noise ratio for better overall image quality--particularly effective when shooting black objects or in dark situations.
12-bit A-D (analog-to-digital) conversion delivers four times the intensity levels as conventional 10-bit conversion. This results is greater dynamic range as well as greater detail in bright highlights and dark shadows.
3X (39-117mm) optical zoom lens brings the action close up while the 6X precision digital zoom uses improved interpolation for digital zooming that is cleaner and clearer than ever before, with less blocking and distortion than most other types of digital zoom.

Auto orientation position sensor allows the camera to sense whether each shot is vertical (portrait) or horizontal (landscape). Each shot is then automatically displayed in the correct orientation on the LCD monitor or on your PC monitor.
