The 12 parallel channel GPS III PLUS has all the features of the GPS II PLUS, but adds a detailed basemap (not city point database) and is capable of uploading user selected maps from the Garmin MapSource CD-ROMs. An area of about 7500 square miles of residential street level maps can be uploaded into the approximate 1.4 MB memory of the GPS III PLUS. It also offers a higher resolution display and longer battery life.

The basemap on the GPS III PLUS includes cartography information for North and South America including a database of cities, interstates, lakes, rivers, railroads, coastlines, and exit information for the federal interstate highway system. Even more remarkable, the GPS III PLUS takes mapping one step further with an added CD-ROM capability. Simply insert one of GARMIN's MapSource™ CD-ROMs into your PC, and download up to 1.44 MB of extra map detail into your GPS III PLUS.

Whether you're driving on asphalt or on water, GARMIN has the maps you need. Choose the "U.S. Roads and Recreation" CD for city street level detail and even inland marine features such as lake and river shorelines, boat ramp and marina locations. Other CD's give you worldwide coverage of coastlines, including a database of coastal cities, navaids and inland roads.
