DV VCR:

• Playback Mini DV cassettes recorded on your DV camcorder without any cables to connect. Or you can connect your DV camcorder to the HR- DVS1 and make direct DV-to-DV edits of your footage.
• Records digital audio with a choice of two modes: two-channel 16-bit, 48kHz for maximum quality or four-channel 12-bit 32kHz, allowing another stereo channel to added (background music or narration for example)

S-VHS VCR:

• Incorporating JVCs exclusive DigiPure technology, the S-VHS deck on the HR-DVS1 delivers over 400 lines of horizontal resolution for quality that approaches digital. DigiPure technology uses a digital wide TBC and 3-dimensional circuitry for clearer color separation, improved S/N ratio, enhanced detail, and elimination of dot crawl.
• Hi-Fi stereo audio with MTS decoder delivers wide dynamic range for maximum impact, while the built-in MTS decoder lets you record stereo and SAP TV broadcasts. 

Editing Features:

• DV insert editing and stereo audio dubbing; S-VHS insert editing and audio dubbing
  Digitally zoom up to 10X on any part of the picture (during DV playback only)
  Random Assemble (RA) editing lets you choose up to 8 segments at a time (in any order) from your DV tape, and at the touch of a button they are automatically copied over to S-VHS correctly arranged.
• You can also choose from a host of special effects (cinema effect, strobe), wipes and fades (door, window, scroll and shutter wipes, black, white and b&w faders) and apply them to the edited scene. And since up 8 pre-set programs can be stored in memory, this function lets you keep the information of 64 segments (8 segments x sets) in the deck to easily make additional copies just by calling up the program number.
• One-touch dubbing from DV to S-VHS or S-VHS to DV at the touch of a single button
• Equipped with DV (IEEE1394) input/output, so you can connect directly from your DV camcorder to make DV-to-DV lossless-quality dubs, or to download to a DV-equipped PC for non-linear editing.
