Main Features

TiVo Personal TV Service When you receive your Personal TV™ Receiver, sign up to receive the TiVo Personal TV Service. Both the Service and the Receiver are compatible with cable, satellite and rooftop antenna. The Receiver simply connects between your TV set and cable box, satellite receiver or antenna/coaxial cable. A VCR can also plug into the Receiver to act as an archive device.
The Service works by making a nightly phone call to get the up-to-date program information it needs to function. The data provided by the TiVo Personal TV Service works to identify and record shows that you have specifically asked for and other shows that may be of interest to you. In this way, TiVo is always full of programs you'll want to watch whenever you turn on your TV.

27.2 GB Internal Hard Drive Storage means there's no tape. No more searching for time slots, no more programming a VCR, no more calculating how much time is left on the cassette. With Personal TV™, all of those chores are done at the touch of a button. And since the storage is random access, you can watch the beginning of a show while the end of the program is being recorded. With 27.2 GB, you can store up to 30 hours of MPEG II digital video.
30-Hour Maximum Recording Capacity allows you to store up to 30 hours of recorded programming in it's Basic Quality Record Mode. Depending on the image quality desired for the programming being recorded, one can improve video quality by selecting faster speeds. Medium Record Mode will deliver 8 hours of storage, High Record Mode provides 6 hour capacity, and you can store four hours of programming in the Best Recording Mode. Don't forget that for archival video storage, you can simply download your favorite programs to your VCR.
Pause Live TV with TiVo gives you total freedom from your television, because those little interruptions that can be so annoying no longer interfere with your show. With TiVo, if the telephone rings during the last minutes of the big game, simply press "pause" on the remote and answer your call. When you come back, press "play" and start watching where you left off, or go to "fast forward" to catch up with the live action. Personal TV allows you to do this because it can buffer the incoming signal and store it. If you own a DirecTV satellite system, TiVo brings more flexibility to watching pay-per-view movies. TiVo On-Screen Program Guide combines all of your incoming program sources, whether from cable, DirecTV, or broadcast into one easy to use program guide, that not only tells you what's coming on, but gives you a program description and the actors starring in it. Find something you like, tell TiVo to record it. Something you don't, tell TiVo to ignore it.
AutoPilot Recording allows you to see your favorites when it's convenient for you to watch them. Once TiVo knows what you like it will go find those shows and record them, automatically and unattended. Your TV set doesn't have to be on. So, if the network brass keeps hiding your favorite new show from you by moving it all over the schedule, TiVo will find it and record it so it fits your schedule. If your kid's favorite sci-fi show comes on after bedtime, TiVo can help bring domestic peace by recording it so they can watch it when you think it's appropriate.
Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down Program Ratings allows Personal TV™ to learn what your personal preferences are so it seeks out your favorite programs. By using the Thumb Up or Thumb Down button on the remote to rate the programs TiVo records for you, it will learn what your likes and dislikes are, by show title, actors, and program topics. TiVo uses this information to look ahead in the program listings, find the programs that match your interests, and deliver them to you when you want to watch them.
TiVo Trick Plays™ are parts of a package of convenient features that make using your Personal TV even more fun to use and enjoy. They are:
