The Sony SVR-2000 incorporates a 30-gigabyte hard drive that records up to 30 hours of television programming or up to nine hours at the highest quality (DVD-Video) setting
Sony's MPEG II Compression System
Because the recorder uses Sony's MPEG II compression system that allows a range of video quality settings, the video settings are user-adjustable. You can control the quality level with four choices - Best, High, Medium, and Basic. At the highest setting the quality approaches the level of DVD. At the lowest setting, the picture quality is closer to VHS tape.

Conflict Management Technology
